Vikings Fire GM Adofo-Mensah After 4 Seasons
The Minnesota Vikings have terminated the contract of General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah after four seasons with the team, the Wilf family announced Tuesday. Owners Mark and Zygi Wilf cited the decision as a move to re-evaluate the team’s direction following a disappointing season.
Adofo-Mensah was hired in January 2022, replacing Rick Spielman. In his tenure, he oversaw roster construction and player acquisitions, including drafting quarterback J.J. McCarthy in the 2023 draft. The Vikings finished the 2023 season with a 7-10 record, missing the playoffs.
Executive Vice President of Football Operations Rob Brzezinski will assume leadership of football operations, guiding the team through the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft and the search for a new General Manager. The Wilfs stated that Brzezinski will work closely with the organization to identify and evaluate potential candidates for the GM position. The timing of the search and the process for selecting a replacement remain to be determined.
Adofo-Mensah's departure marks a significant change in leadership for the Vikings. The team is now entering a period of transition as they seek to rebuild and improve their performance on the field. The Wilf family expressed gratitude for Adofo-Mensah’s contributions while emphasizing their commitment to finding a leader who can guide the Vikings to sustained success.
