In a recent interview with Collider, Cregger explained that while Pascal was indeed a strong contender, the direction of the character evolved during the pre-production phase. “Pedro was attached, and he’s fantastic, and he would have been great,” Cregger stated. “But as we developed the character, it became clear that we needed someone who could do a very specific kind of quiet intensity. Someone who could convey a lot of trauma and pain without yelling.”

The film, 'Weapons,' centers around two brothers who return to their childhood home, a secluded cabin in the woods, to settle their recently deceased father’s affairs. What starts as a seemingly straightforward task quickly descends into a terrifying ordeal as they uncover dark secrets and confront unsettling truths about their family history. Brolin's casting proved to be a masterstroke, Cregger believes. “Josh just has this incredible ability to look like he’s carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders,” Cregger added. “He can convey so much with just a look, and that’s exactly what we needed for this character.”
